The blank screen problem is real. You sit down to post something, your mind goes empty, and another week slips by with nothing. The fix is to stop inventing posts from scratch and instead rotate through a few simple types of content.
The five buckets
Almost every good small business post falls into one of these. Rotate through them and you will never run dry:
- Behind the scenes: show how the work gets done, who does it, a normal day.
- Helpful tips: one small piece of advice your customers can use today.
- Customer love: a review, a thank you, a happy regular (with permission).
- What's new: a product, a season, an event, a change of hours.
- A little personality: something that simply shows the human side of your business.
Plan a month in one sitting
Pick one day, grab a coffee, and sketch out a batch of posts using the buckets above. A few from each category and you are done for the month. Planning in a batch is far easier than staring at a blank box every other day.
Done beats perfect
Your customers are not expecting a magazine shoot. A real photo from your phone with a friendly caption will almost always outperform something overly polished. The businesses that win on social media are simply the ones that keep showing up. Consistency is the whole game.
